At Crossfit Bluenose we operate using the advanced "rxGYMsoftware" computer/app system. We invested in this system for a reason- utilize it. Track your progress, sign up for class. Also, please attend class… we have your number and know where you live!!!
Cancel your reservation if you cannot make it, this will allow for someone else to get a killer workout in. Class sizes for the daily WOD currently cap at 12 and our "open gym" section currently caps at 6... if our schedule states "FULL open gym", 20 is our capped capacity. We require every member to sign up for designated classes as this allows the coaches to prepare for class size and keeps the group classes to a maximum for SAFETY reasons.
Please respect our equipment. Nothing should be dropped with less then a 25lb plate on either side- unless this is as a last resort to prevent injury. Bumpers are designed for emergency dropping. Control the load, don’t let the load control you. NEVER drop an empty barbell. Our equipment was expensive, and the more we have to replace, the more we have to charge you.
Set up your equipment… we will help you scale weights and movements but it is your responsibility to get your weights, set up your station, and claim your workout real estate.
Bring your own "tools". This includes tape, gloves, wrist wraps, weight belts, towels, water, tape, tape, tape, and did we mention tape?
Dress code: There is none, don’t worry about how you look. Worry about how you perform. This is a casual gym- no shirt, no shoes, no worries.
Clean up after yourself… clean up equipment, sweat, spit, blood, chalk, dirt, handprints, and whatever else you’ve left behind. Chalk is useful, even necessary. It is also messy. Use as much as you need, but there is no need to chalk up to your elbows. Please keep the excess inside the chalk bucket.
Please introduce yourself to any new athlete and new athletes introduce yourselves to our members. Inclusiveness isn't just to be expected, it is a rule! CrossFit Bluenose is more than just a gym. It’s a community. Diversity is valued and celebrated, thats the beauty of this sport- it is for everyBODY.
Ego can be your worst enemy at the gym. Check yourself before you wreck yourself! Don’t allow your ego to get in the way of training. There is always room for improving and progressing. Do not attempt to lift weight or perform movements you are not ready for as this encourages injury. If a coach gives you a movement modification or tells you to strip weight off your bar- it is not to offend you. It is in your best interest.
Leave your drama at the door. Use your hour at the gym to clear your mind and focus on training hard. CrossFit Bluenose is your sanctuary and we want you to leave each training session stronger- mentally and physically.
BE LOUD. We are respectful but we are not silent! During your training yell, grunt, scream, sweat, bleed, etc. Do whatever you need to do to get through your workout. Feel free to stick around after class to cheer, motivate and push your fellow athletes. Also remember that there can be such a thing as too loud, crass, gross, or rude – common sense rule applies, please be respectful.
Children are more than welcome to watch their parents train. However, we also want to keep kids and everyone else in our gym safe. Please make sure your kids stay off gym equipment and away from the weights. Parents will assume all safety and responsibility for their children. We currently offer a "Teen-Fit" program, that runs twice a week for ages 11-15.
Current age restrictions: Parties aged 18 and above have no restrictions. Young adolescents between the ages of 15 and 17 can participate with the adults if there is a signed form of consent from their legal guardian. If a party is below the ages of 15 they can participate ONLY if they are accompanied by an adult! As mentioned, we do offer an alternative for kids ages 11-15... a class where they can workout with other people their age, held ever Monday and Friday at 3:30pm.
Last but not least, be PROUD of your accomplishments... saying I "CAN'T" is a four letter cuss word in our box. Take the time to talk with a coach if you are in a rut or need some motivation. We are in this together!
